Samoens boasts a famille plus label, which means that it is recognised as having adequate facilities as a resort for families and holidaymakers with young children to enjoy, all year round.
This safety-conscious alpine village caters well by offering creche facilities that are available throughout the seasons, child-friendly shops and restaurants, not to mention the array of family-centred sights and activities that are on offer. But the real beauty of Samoens is that there is lots of fresh alpine air, greenery and space to roam and play, without the compromise of volumes of traffic and general thoroughfare. To help assure our guests further, Apartment Buqa itself is situated on a quiet cul-de-sac.
In the winter months, we provide a complementary shuttle bus service from Apartment Buqa to the Grand Massif Ski station. This saves our guests the effort and inconvenience of lugging their equipment on foot. Very handy when they have 'little ones' in tow. Infants over the age of 12 months can ascend the Ski lift up to the plateau at 1600m.
Alternatively, there is a scenic winding road which takes you up to the same point, by car.
Once at 1600m, children can be let loose to play about and practice at the Piou Piou, or attempt the handful of green and blue slopes which are right there, or simply enjoy the food and stunning views from the choice of restaurants at the plateau. Also, sledging slopes, and tobogganing is heaps of fun for all ages and in a child-friendly environment.
There are Luge runs that have recently opened at the top of Grand Massif Station, (in 2009), which are suited to both children and adults. Sledges, skis, etc are available to hire or purchase both in town and at the plateau. The 'little people' can ski from the age of 3 – they must be a little bit older before they can snowboard (boohoo). They can have lessons at the widely recognised L’ecole du ski francais. www.esfsamoens.com There are also some private local instructors our resident host Gillu can recommend.
Summer activities with children (and families) in mind are:
